The art of quilting has been passed down for many generations in our family. That is where the name 'Family Tradition Quilts' came from. You will find the work of three generations of quilters on this web site. The three generations include my mother, my sister, and her daughter.
My name is Marilyn and I own Family Tradition Quilts. My sister, Carol, and I learned to quilt when we were young from our mother, Sylvia. At our house there was almost always a quilt in the frames in the living room. Many years later the only difference is that we all live in different houses which means that instead of there being one set of quilt frames set up most of the time - there are three. The other member of our group is Carol's daughter, Katherine.
All of our work shown on this web site plus a lot more is on display at my mother's house located at 4271 Route #114 in Lower Cape, New Brunswick. This is about 1 Km south "The Hopewell Rocks' on the scenic Fundy Coastal Drive in Southeastern New Brunswick. If you are in the area please feel free to drop by to have a look. If you would like to call ahead you may do so at (506) 734-2919. If you need a place to stay we are right across the road from Innisfree Bed and Breakfast.
In addition to this every year on the first weekend of August we join together with other local quilters and have our Annual Quilt Show and Sale. If you are in the area be sure to check it out. The Quilt Show is held at the Lower Cape Community Center located at 4480 Route #114. It is approximately 3 Km south of 'The Hopewell Rocks'. We have quilting demonstrations through out the weekend. Also featured are other sewn items such as table runners, Christmas items, purses, clothing and much, much more. Come on out for a beautiful drive in the country and see our quilts on display. If you would like more information please contact us.
Note: The picture at the top of the page is Lower Cape, NB with Shepody Mountain in the background. The house in the centre of the picture is where the quilting began many years ago. This is the view from the top of the hill at the entrance to 'The Hopewell Rocks'.
